Roger Federer designed by Manuele Fior

The cartoonist and illustrator Manuele Fior (Five thousand kilometers per second, Celestia) designed the former Swiss tennis player Roger Federer for the cover of the new issue of the specialized magazine Italian tennispublished by Fandango Libri.

Published on the occasion of the start of the Wimbledon Tournament, the magazine is entitled “Sentimento Federer”, in memory of one of the best performers on the London grass with 8 victories (a male record) and one of the strongest tennis players of all time , who retired from competitive activity in 2022.

Defined as “The world’s oldest tennis magazine”, Italian tennis has recently changed ownership, passing under Domenico Procacci’s Fandango Libri, which immediately changed the layout of the covers, involving authors from the world of comics and similar.

The first cover of the new course, that of the October/November 2023 issue, depicting the former German tennis player Boris Becker, was for example created by Makkox, while the subsequent one, dedicated to Italy’s victory in the Davis Cup, by the illustrator Paolo Metaldi. The previous one, however, saw Jannik Sinner – current number 1 in the world – depicted by Tanino Liberatore.

Inside the magazine there is also a comic book column on tennis, written and illustrated by Emanuele Rosso (also author of the graphic novel in the past Goatset in this very world).
