The construction site for the new lot of the university campus of Cesena. The building will house the headquarters of Department of Psychology with classrooms, laboratories and administration offices.
“The building – said the rector of the University of Bologna Giovanni Molari – will be fully attended from approximately two thousand people between teachers, researchers, students and technical-administrative staff. The investment is 20 million euros financed by the Ministry, Municipality and Unibo. The works started today will lead to the construction of a three-storey building with an underground garage for a total surface area of 9,750 square meters. The inauguration of the campus is scheduled for end of 2025“.
Molari underlined that the project, managed by the Unibo Technical Office, “is effective attention to the environmentreducing consumption and maximizing energy efficiency”.
The rector then praised the collaboration with the Municipality and said he was confident of finding the resources to complete the multicampus in the chimney area with the canteen and services related to accommodation.

“Today is a very important moment – the mayor spoke Enzo Lattuca -. Cesena is increasingly a university city. It was 1989 – I had just been born – when the challenge of designing the first university presence in the city. First some city spaces were recovered, then theentire neighborhood of the former sugar factory, thus making it more alive and safe. For the University the city has rolled out the red carpet. We have made it available spaces and resources. For this construction site we have intended 7 million eurosout of the total 20 million, and we granted the free land for 99 years.”
Regarding the current Psychology spaces, in the station areathe mayor made it known that “they will remain available to the University for new projects” and the Aula Magna “will be a room for events and shows open to citizens”.
Satisfaction with the new batch also from Massimo Cicognani, president of the Cesena Campus. “This is a far-sighted project – he commented -. The structures have an impact on course attendance. In mine six year mandate, Cesena has developed and consolidated as a university city. Registrations have gone from 1,300 to over 1,660 per year and members from less than two thousand to around five thousand”.
