An important day for Andrea Vavassori and Simone Bolelli. The two Italians will be involved today in the quarter-finals of the Internazionali d’Italia in the doubles tournament Wesley Koolhof and Nikola Mektic, with the aim of improving their position in the ranking even further and getting closer to first place in the Race to Turin.
Vavassori, the more playful of the couple, wanted to ‘harangue the crowd’ with a post on his Instagram profiles, in which he recalls today’s appointment as the second match from 1pm on Pietrangeli, and under the various comments a rather ‘hot’ one from Andreas Seppi emerged.
The former South Tyrolean player in fact launched a dig at FITP: “Incredible camp! Only the name could change“. Finding, among others, the ironic support of Fabio Fognini: “Sorry and what name should they put? I have some in mind if you want“.
Seppi had a complicated relationship with FIT at the end of his career, writing on Instagram after his retirement: “I would have loved to play on the scoreboard in Florence or Naples to say goodbye to tennis, but FIT didn’t let me.” allowed, telling me that giving the wildcard to someone who withdraws would be a waste.”
