A success that speaks of Modena for Davis Krumins (paired with Marco Caminati) at the Futures of the Beach Pro Tour scheduled in Madrid from 9 to 12 May in the Iberian capital. An incredible adventure for Mutina Beach’s Modena ace: the pair were reserves, then were brought back into the qualifying draw.
Two rounds dominated in the main draw against a Polish and a Spanish couple, then the difficult victory on their debut in Pool D of the main draw against the other Spaniards Moreno and Sanfélix 2-1 (15-11 in the decisive set), success by 2- 0 against the Germans Sowa-Just, then again a 2-1 victory over the Israelis Hadar-Lanciano in the quarter-finals and then the masterpiece in the semi-final against the French Chouikh and Altweis (2-1 and 17-15 in the ‘decider’ against those who they were the second seeds in the tournament). Finally a very dominated final 2-0 against the Danes Mollgaard and Houmann (21-17 21-17 scores). An adventure in every sense, even with the flights, given the improvisation of a tournament in which Krumins and Caminati didn’t even have to play and found themselves winning seven matches in a row and staying until Sunday, returning in the night between Sunday and Monday from Madrid to Pisa.
“We are very satisfied with the result obtained – says an enthusiastic Davis Krumins – even more satisfied because the Mutina Beach competitive team managed to participate in a Future and win a gold. The choice to play with Caminati? Well, I would say it was very positive , if the good weather starts in the morning we started with a victory in the first tournament we played together. The priority now is to continue playing well and participate in other tournaments.”
At the moment Krumins-Caminati are on the qualifying board in Cervia next week and then in the Battipaglia Futures they will be in the reserves as in Madrid. All events that could be used to accumulate points and perhaps in a short time to enter directly into the main draw or in any case no longer go through the reserves and have to wait for a repechage. A constantly growing movement, that of Mutina Beach: the other top pair, the one made up of Bigarelli and Reggiani, will in fact complete the stages of the Italian championship and will try to enter some Futures scoreboard in the Pro Tour.
