Rugby Como, the process for the new center begins. Public interest declared

Opening of the sports center for at least 300 days a year, discounted rate for residents in the Como area, completion of the works by December 31st of next year. The council of the Municipality of Como has approved the “public interest” for the overall redevelopment project of the sports center in via Longoni, the home of Rugby Como. A fundamental step to start the process which should lead to the inauguration of the new complex by the end of 2025.
The new sports center will be built in collaboration between the public and private sectors, with the active participation of Rugby Como. Last December, Palazzo Cernezzi received a proposal from the sports association and Capital Padel, a company from Brescia. This was then taken over as proposer by the Sport Più company from Castellanza, in the province of Varese. After the positive outcome of the preliminary services conference and the redefinition of the economic-financial plan, the council unanimously voted on the public interest of the plan. A decision that comes a few weeks after the Abbondino d’Oro, Como’s civic merit, was awarded to Rugby Como.

The project for the new sports center involves the construction of two rugby fields, a climbing gym, a pump truck circuit for bikes, padel courts, a track and a green path for sports activities, as well as bars and restaurants.
The Municipality’s contribution to the investment for the works cannot exceed the amount of 2,750,000 euros and Palazzo Cernezzi will pay a maximum of 100 thousand euros per year for the 25 years of the concession for management costs. The works will be divided into three functional lots, which can also be carried out simultaneously. The new complex is due to be completed by the end of next year.

In the resolution, the Palazzo Cernezzi council also provided for the obligation to open the sports center for at least 300 days a year and a discounted rate for city residents, 30% for disabled people, 20% for children and young people up to 14 years of age and 10% for those over 14. After the declaration of public interest for the work, the road to starting the works is clear.
