In the last month Jannik Sinner he had to deal with some physical problems. Not a usual thing for the South Tyrolean who certainly pays the first part of 2024 at a thousand an hour, without ever stopping. An accumulation of stress and fatigue that often turns into injuries. Starting from the Masters 1000 in Monte Carlo, when during the final against Stefanos Tsitsipas he stopped twice, calling the physiotherapists, due to a problem with his right leg. The annoyance then cost him the Greek’s comeback and defeat in the final of the Principality tournament. His condition, however, had not caused much alarm, at least until the Madrid tournament.

After missing the ATP in Barcelona, Jannik showed up in the Spanish capital with the desire not to push too much. His main goal was to arrive in Rome in shape but things didn’t go as he had planned. During the match against Kotov, however, he suffered a right hip problem. His team, however, pushed him to continue and in the end Jannik won the match, earning the pass to the round of 16. After the victory against Khachanov, on Wednesday he decided to abandon the Spanish Masters 1000 without even taking the field against Auger-Aliassime. The objective now becomes only one: recover for Roland-Garros. Much will depend on recovery times which are not yet certain. We will need to monitor the situation daily and hope for a quick recovery, given his young age.
