Few emotions and only one truly great ruler in the 2024 Miami Grand Prix Sprint, valid as the sixth seasonal round of the Formula One World Championship. Starting from first position on the grid, Max Verstappen aggressively repelled the attack of Charles Leclerc at the start, then maintaining the leadership without too many worries until the checkered flag.
The Dutchman from Red Bull preceded the Monegasque’s Ferrari and the Mexican’s other RB20 at the finish line Sergio Perez, good at quickly regaining third place from Daniel Ricciardo after a complicated first lap. The performance of the Australian deserves applause, as he strenuously resisted in fourth place with his Racing Bulls, defending himself admirably from the forcing of a desperate Carlos Sainz.
The Spaniard from the Rossa, penalized by a set-up that was perhaps too loaded on his SF-24 and therefore with little speed on the straight, tried in every way, but was unable to complete the overtaking maneuver on Ricciardo and confirmed fifth place in the Sprint Qualifying ahead of Oscar Piastri’s McLaren, while Nico Hulkenberg’s Haas and Yuki Tsunoda’s Racing Bulls complete the points.
The German and Japanese recovered three and seven positions respectively compared to the start, taking advantage of a chaotic first lap and the penalty given to Lewis Hamilton (physically 8th on arrival) for speeding in the pit lane during the Safety regime Char. The Sprint Race was in fact neutralized following a crash at the start which put Lando Norris and Lance Stroll out of the runningin a carambola triggered by Fernando Alonso and Hamilton.
