Bad criminal episode, in two phases, in recent days in Mazara del Vallo where the “Paolo Borsellino-Daniele Ajello” comprehensive institute suffered an unwanted visit from some criminals at the branch office and also at the headquarters. Thefts which were reported by the school management to the Carabinieri, the damages are quantified at a figure exceeding 10 thousand euros. Last Friday afternoon, criminals entered the branch office taking advantage of the main entrance being open to allow access to the gym. From here they reached the multimedia laboratory on the first floor, taking two laptops and escaping through a service door. In the night between Sunday and Monday the thieves struck again, forcing an external door and once again reaching the laboratory with a much larger loot, 15 desktop and laptop PCs and a smart TV.

The following night, however, the headquarters in Piazza Santa Veneranda was attacked by some criminals who tore up and unhinged the grates and broke the glass windows to enter the institute. Now we hope for municipal video surveillance cameras that will support the police investigations. The mayor, Salvatore Quinci, also condemned the episode: “I express my strongest condemnation for this vile and cowardly act. Attacking a school, a place of training and growth for our young people, is an act that strikes the heart of our community. The school represents the future and hope of our city, and such an act is a direct attack on all of us. The surveillance cameras will allow the police to identify and bring to justice those responsible for this despicable act.”
