LEGNANO – A positive year on all fronts: economic, financial, strategic and employment. So it was presented by its leaders Amga’s 2023 yesterday, Thursday 23 May, at the Legnano headquarters. The turnover, which in 2021 amounted to 59.8 million euros, rose to 69.9 million in the past year; the activity of the subsidiary Aemme Linea Ambiente has grown, with theentrance of the Municipality of Cornaredo and the agreements for the entry of Castellanza which came to fruition at the beginning of this month; consequently, the workforce, increased by 34 units compared to 2022 and destined to increase further: the forecasts are to close the current year with 450 units.

Aemme Environment Line

Ala has not only increased its scope of action, reaching 19 municipalities served with a catchment area of more than 300,000 inhabitantsbut he has worked and is also working on improvement of separate waste collection overall, with the municipalities with specific tariffs (Canegrate, Magnago, San Giorgio su Legnano, Dairago, Villa Cortese and Legnano. Strengthened by the results achieved in terms of increase in waste sent to a second life and decrease in waste destined for disposalAla is working to export the timely tariff in two other municipalities: Parabiago and Buscate.

Another result that responds to Ala’s mission concerns the fleet: for the whole of 2023 the vehicles (among which the number of electric ones is growing) were powered by biomethane. This trend will continue in 2024, which ideally allows us to close the waste cycle with Forsu.

Again with reference to Ala’s mission, which also involves the diffusion of the green philosophy, the initiative continues with excellent results “Differenzia di +”, environmental education campaign carried out since 2017 in the schools of the municipalities served. The 2023 numbers report 21 schools involved and 101 classes, for a total of 2,437 students and 650 hours of training and creative workshops. The audience of users will soon be expanded, introducing educational proposals aimed at children in nursery schools and the first classes of primary school.

Aemme Distribution Line

2023 is also considered satisfactory for Aemme Linea Distribuzione srl, the company that deals with distribution of methane gas in 15 municipalities in the area north-west of Milan (Abbiategrasso, Arconate, Boffalora sopra Ticino, Buscate, Canegrate, Legnano, Magenta, Magnago, Mesero, Morimondo, Ozzero, Parabiago, Rescaldina, Villa Cortese and Vittuone) with a management of 984 km of medium and low pressure pipelines and approximately 99,000 users served. In 2023 investments rose to 3.6 million euros (compared to 2.4 million euros in 2022). The focus is on maintenance: being the owner of the networks and having to guarantee service continuity, the company must safeguard their full efficiency. The staff is constantly involved in the network inspections in order to verify that there are no leaks. They also continue investments in meters that allow remote reading and remote management: we are at 73,600 and approximately another 25,000 will be installed in the next few years.

District heating

After revocation of Pnrr funding decided in September 2023 by the European Commission which does not consider the project in line with its environmental policies, the government (with three separate decrees last March) has reassigned the same financial resources to Agesp, Amga and Neutalia to allow the development of the Tlr networks of Busto Arsizio and Legnano/Castellanza, with the connection to the Neutalia incinerator in Borsano. The funds will no longer be those of the Pnrr, but national.

Still on the district heating front, the efficiency improvement of the Legnano power plant is underway: work has started on the construction of a new cogeneration unit which will allow the service to be run more efficiently and in line with new needs (greater technical and electrical efficiency).
