The annual The Pygiessiades are upon us. The flagship sporting event organized by the Salesian Youth Sports Clubs of Sicily opens the month of May full of sporting events throughout the region.
The event scheduled for 2 to 5 May 2024 will take place at the Athena Resort accommodation facility in Kastalia and will involve approximately 700 people including athletes and accompanying managers.
“The teams – explains Massimo Motta – coming from every corner of Sicily there are a total of 37 between 5-a-side football and volleyball. This is an important sporting event involving several of our clubs and our athletes, an opportunity for growth and sports training. Every year it is always a great emotion to organize this sporting event.”
The regional event will concern the two prevalent disciplines in Sicily: 5-a-side football and volleyball.
For the volleyball the category will take the field under 18/19: Volley Club Ragalna, P. Barbagallo Pedara, Olympia Riesi ASD. At the category tournament free will participate: P. Barbagallo Pedara, La Fenice Catania.
For the 5-a-side football the first to take the field will be the category propaganda with Al Qattà Canicattì, Nuova Petiliana, Pol. La Riesina, Rosmini Erice, Atletico Campobello, P. Barbagallo Pedara, Sport Village Pietraperzia, ACOR, S.Filippo Neri Catania, GP2 Sporting Olivarella, D. Bosco Ranchibile Palermo.
5-a-side football under 15 category it will be the tournament with the most participating teams: Futsal Gela, P. Barbagallo Pedara, Sport Village Pietraperzia, Al Qattà Canicattì, Aquila Cesarò, Don Bosco Trapani, Vigor San Cataldo, Football Caltanissetta, GP2 Sporting Olivarella, Santa Chiara Palermo, D. Bosco Ranchibile Palermo, Juvenilia Trapani, Salesian Oratory Ragusa. The tournament under 17 for 5-a-side football it will see as challenger teams: Vigor San Cataldo, M. Teresa Calcutta Trapani, Futsal Gela, Nuova Petiliana, Atletico Campobello. Finally, for the free category, Vigor San Cataldo, S.Maria Salette Catania, P. Barbagallo Pedara will take the field.
The Pigiesiadi 2024 are the most participated and exciting sporting format ever, which over time has always provided many emotions.
