“Anything to say?”the bronze monument to freedom of expression of Davide Dormino has finally arrived at Naples. The sculptural group, made up of three figures standing on three chairs plus an empty fourth, for the viewer, for anyone, was installed today evening, March 25th. The work, after stopping at Geneva, Paris And Strasbourg arrives in the city as a traveling reminder of courage. The three depicted are in fact Edward Snowden, Chelsea Manning And Julian Assangehonorary Neapolitan citizen.

«We are here to defend the freedom of the press and our right to know. This work,” he declared Davide Dorminoauthor of the installation ‒ ”Anything to say?”, wants to take charge of this message. It’s a medium. There is this empty chair, an invitation to anyone to participate. The work thus becomes participatory, participatory and itinerant. It will be in Naples, in Piazza Dante, from tonight until the 31st Assangepublic opinion is moving, fortunately. Censoring Assange means censoring our ability to know the truth.”

«I am here with great passion – commented Vincenzo Vita of Articolo21 and Free Assange Napoli activist – it is essential to give the sign that Free Assange is a reference figure for everyone who cares about freedom of information. If Assange were convicted, the entire universe that wants to report true news, to get inside the powers and their secrets, would be condemned. We want that Free Assange is the slogan of that democratic world that has not done much to make Julian Assangeto whom we owe the truth.”

“Julian Assange must be protected, he must be defended,” he concluded Luca Persico, artist – we must be in solidarity with him. We must feel part of this battle. It is a battle that goes beyond freedom of opinion, it is a battle against the abuses of our development model, against anything that moves against his interests. Even against the truth, if the truth moves against these interests. That’s why we are here.”

The program around the opera is packed. Tomorrow May 26th six performers will step onto the empty chair for one performance each. From the 27th to the 31st the sculptural group will be freely visitable and on the last day, the 31st, Pina Di Gennaro, Omar Suleiman, Lucia Vitrone, Guido Piccoli, Samuele Ciambriello and an activist of the Last Generation will climb onto the installation. The closing will be held at 7.30pm with BandaBasaglia.
