On Thursday morning, the Roma football club published a statement in which it said that Daniele De Rossi will be the team’s coach again next year. De Rossi arrived last January to replace José Mourinho, who had been sacked after disappointing results, and in these three months he has gone very well: with him Roma have so far achieved 11 wins, 3 draws and 2 defeats, going from ninth to fifth place in Serie A and qualifying for the quarter-finals of the Europa League (they will play the return leg against Milan on Thursday evening, after having won the first leg 1-0 away from home).
In the Roma press release there are the words of Dan and Ryan Friedkin, the two American entrepreneurs who own the club, in which they declare that De Rossi «will continue to hold the position of coach of AS Roma also at the end of this season and for next season future”, specifying that “further details will follow in the next few days”. De Rossi had signed a contract with Roma until the end of this season (June 2024): the agreement will now be renewed for at least next year. At the moment Roma have not yet clarified the duration of De Rossi’s next contract, but in cases like this – a coach who is confirmed after good results – multi-year contracts are usually proposed.
