Telepass is a payment system that is easy and quick to use for paying motorway tolls, parking and other mobility services without ever having to stop at the toll booth or use cash. Too bad the rates have increased recently, which is why a good group of users is considering canceling it: the practices are elementary.
Brief history and features
Introduced in Italy in 1989, initially on an experimental basis along the Prato Calenzano-Florence North route, Telepass was extended the following year to the toll booths of the main Italian cities (Milan, Rome and Naples) on the A1 motorway, on the occasion of the World Championships football played in our peninsula.
Since then, it has rapidly spread and today millions of motorists use it in Italy and Europe (with the European Telepass). It predicts installing a small device in the vehicle, responsible for communicating with toll booths and other service points via radio frequency. When you pass through an authorized center, the transaction is automatically debited from the associated current account.
Among its various features, the Telepass gives the opportunity to access Area C of Milan avoiding long (and annoying) waits. Furthermore, it allows you to cover the fare of taxis, trains, public transport, ski passes and Venezia Pass, as well as routes on board ships, ferries, flights and coaches. Finally, it grants interesting financial advantages, in the form of cashback and discounts on car insurance.
Activation is simple, accessible to anyone, even beginners. Simply apply the instructions included in the device packaging, which can be done in a few minutes. It can be used on two vehicles associated with the same contract, it is also available for motorcycles, and has the advantage of flexibility.
The steps to observe
Canceling Telepass is also an intuitive process, with a process consisting of just a few steps. The initial phase consists of accessing the official website, where the FAQ section, or answers to the most frequently asked questions, helps to resolve any type of doubt. Because in the beginning it can get confusing and a tool like this, typical of every up-to-date portal, helps you stay calm.
Once you enter the platform, you need to enter your personal data and tax code associated with the signed form. Please specify the reason for the termination of the relationship and indicates the date from which the decision becomes effective.
At this point, it is preferable to carefully check that you have entered the correct information, and then click on the “Send” button. To confirm the operation, the user will receive a confirmation email with a summary of the request.
Within seven days of cancellation, the owner is responsible for returning the device, free and without penalties. There are two methods: delivery to a Telepass Point (the network can be consulted on the website) or shipping via courier. In the second case, please explicitly request courier delivery to your home, where this is not possible.
The contact details for clarification in this regard are the usual customer service contact details. The application can also be sent with a registered letter with return receipt (with return receipt) to the address on the site. Failure to return the Telepass risks incurring additional costs.
