Great evening of international football for Italy. Two teams qualified for the Europa League semi-finals, one qualified for the Conference League semi-finals and the Bel Paese will be able to field five teams in the next edition of the Champions League.
Roma defeated Milan in the derby 2-1. After the 1-0 victory at San Siro, the Giallorossi went wild at the Olimpico with goals from Mancini in the 12th minute and Dybala in the 22nd minute. The Romans played with one man less for an hour (Celik’s expulsion), but the Rossoneri only managed to close the gap in the 85th minute with Gabbia’s goal. Daniele De Rossi’s boys will meet the Germans Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League semi-finals, who eliminated the English West Ham (1-1 after the 2-0 in the first leg).
Atalanta completed the feat against Liverpool. After having conquered Anfield 3-0, the Dea limited the damage in front of their fans, losing 1-0 (Salah’s goal in the 7th minute). The Nerazzurri will now have to face Marseille, who eliminated Benfica on penalties in the other Europa League semi-final. Fiorentina instead beat Viktoria Plzen 2-0 in extra time: goals from Gonzalez and Biraghi after the double 0-0 draw between the first and second legs. The Viola will now face Belgian Club Brugge, who eliminated Greek PAOK Thessaloniki, in the Conference League semi-final.
