Max Verstappen has expressed his disappointment with what is happening in Formula 1: the Dutchman is really furious.

Max Verstappen has won three of the four races contested so far in the 2024 World Championship and is leading the drivers’ standings with 13 points over teammate Sergio Perez, 18 over Charles Leclerc and 22 over Carlos Sainz. The impression is that Ferrari is more competitive than last year but Red Bull is still the better car. Furthermore, the Milton Keynes team can count on an authentic phenomenon like the Dutchmanwinner of the last three world titles and determined to hunt for the fourth in a row.

However there are several things that Max Verstappen doesn’t like. First of all, the internal chaos at Red Bull, with the clash between Horner and Marko which could push the reigning world champion to seriously evaluate the courtship of Mercedes. But that’s not all, because Verstappen often shows his disappointment even for F1’s choices.

In fact, just in the last few hours, the 26-year-old from Hasselt has made it clear that he does not appreciate a choice made by the Federation at all. The World Cup leader refers to the weekend in China and in particular to the Sprint Race which will be held at the Shanghai circuit this Saturday. The Circus, in fact, will return to racing in China after 5 years of cancellations due to the health emergency and subsequent restrictions.

The Shanghai circuit features new asphalt which could create difficulties for the riders. In addition to this, Verstappen points out that the program decided for the Chinese weekend is very difficult to manage. On Friday, at dawn, only one free practice session will be held. Immediately afterwards the drivers will have to compete in the qualifications of the Sprint Race, which will take place on Saturday 20 April.

On the same day the various teams will battle for the qualifications of the ‘classic’ GP, which will start on Sunday 21st at nine in the morning (Italian time). Long story short, Friday April 19th the pilots will only have three hours to become familiar with the new road surface and collect data. Verstappen harshly criticizes this choice: for the Dutchman it would have been much better to return to China with a race weekend in the traditional format.

Once again Verstappen points out how this decision goes more towards the spectacle than to protect the pilots. A discontent that actually seems widespread: even Carlos Sainz pointed out that after 5 years “it would have been better not to take additional risks” and return to racing in Shanghai with the traditional format.
