On Sunday 14 April 2024, a stage of Giocavolley will take place, the historic Uisp volleyball event aimed at children. The event is part of the project “Civic Sports” and is aimed at the redevelopment of a green area at the confluence of the Aniene and Tiber rivers.
The main objective of UISP Rome’s participation in the Civic Sport project – financed by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers – Department for Sport – was to give new life to an area of the Aniene Valley Nature Reserve .
On Sunday 14 April you will be able to attend one of the main days of the project. On that occasion, girls and boys will participate, in the green area of the confluence between the Aniene and the Tiber, in a new stage of the Play volleyballhistoric volleyball event in the capital.
The start of activities is scheduled for 9.30am, with several Roman teams competing simultaneously on 6 different fields (with entrance from via Vincenzo Lodigiani).
At the end of the event there will be a solidarity picnic in which each sports club will participate to share a common moment after the sporting day.
The Civic Sport activities that UISP Rome has implemented have seen the collaboration of various local partners.
“The path of the project” comment Francesca Romana D’Angelo, coordinator of Sport Civico “begins with a long phase of creating the network of local stakeholders. Only once relationships with i 22 project partners and, in particular, with Insieme Per l’Aniene APS, a social promotion association that deals with the maintenance of the Reserve, and the Sport and Environment Departments of Municipalities III and IVthe operational phase has begun”.
Among the other organizing bodies, the association Together for the Aniene APS which has been dealing with the Aniene reserve for 25 years and is responsible for Sport Civico for the reclamation activities of the confluence between the Aniene and the Tiber.
Pietro PieralicePresident of the association, underlines the importance of the association’s action for the local community: “At the beginning of the project the area appeared degraded and the work we are carrying out is focused on redevelopment of the area with the cleaning of the banks and some green spaces.
The objective is to ensure that this area, which is now a large meadow, becomes increasingly suitable for sporting activities, so we are working to adapt it, without however distorting its nature”.
Also involved in the month of March were the students of“Zaveria Cassia” Comprehensive Institute of San Basilio in educational and cognitive activities of the Reserve and sporting activities within it.
“The actions of the neighborhood” continues Francesca Romana D’Angelo “they see a series of consolidated sports proposals in the panorama of our committee which have the aim of involving sports associations and amateur sports clubs in the area. For us, in fact, the dual value of the interventions is fundamental: not only physical and sporting activities, but also proposals of civic and social value to educate young people about knowledge and respect for the environment”.
“The proposal to organize a stage of Play volleyball” D’Angelo explains further “to support the objectives of Sport Civico was welcomed with enthusiasm and the aim of the initiative will be to bring young athletes to discover the Reserve, with the hope that in the future it will remain a place to live for them. Redeveloping the area of the confluence between the two rivers of the city of Rome means bringing this area of the park to its maximum splendor.
Uisp Roma wants to give back to the citizens of the neighborhood an area of sociality through that powerful medium that is sport.”
The next initiatives of the Uisp project will continue involving the Great Agethe sector Football for mental health And Acquaviva.
“All these initiatives” we read precisely in the UISP Rome press release “precisely because of their characteristics, they fit perfectly into the general context of the objectives that the Civic Sport project intends to pursue in the broader national context. Sport Civico, in fact, aims to promote “sports mainstreaming” in the planning process of urban development interventions, ensuring that the theme of sport is present in all aspects of urban regeneration policies, strategies and interventions, in order to ensure that the latter go in the direction of improving quality of life, well-being and sustainability“.
