The fire brigade helicopter flies over the river, the divers search the river inch by inch. There is still no trace of Claudio Togni, the 58-year-old worker swallowed by the Adda river following an accident at work which occurred on the morning of Friday 28 June.

It all happened shortly after 9am while the Italgen worker was working on a spillway in Concesa, under the A4 bridge. The very expert worker ended up in the water under the eyes of two colleagues with whom he was carrying out a maintenance operation. The man, according to an initial reconstruction, would have been harnessed but the cause of the accident at work could be a wrong manoeuvre. The ATS inspectors will reconstruct what happened, however the hopes of finding the 58-year-old alive are reduced as the hours pass.

Throughout the morning the fire brigade divers carried out several dives near the barrier of the Concesa dam, all with negative results. “Unfortunately, due to the current flow of the river, rescue operations can only be conducted on the surface,” the firefighters pointed out.

Currently, the aquatic rescue firefighters of the Milan and Bergamo commands are using rafting dinghies to search the banks of the river. Furthermore, support from above is guaranteed by the SAPR fire brigade specialists who use drones to inspect the riverbed.

From Via Messina they made it known that the search activities will continue until sunset. During the night, rescue operations will be suspended to ensure the safety of the operators.
