High pressure is consolidating its presence over Italy which finds itself experiencing, between Friday 28th and the last weekend of June, thepeak of the African heat wavewith temperatures that will again touch i 40 degrees in the South and on the Islands. In the next few hours we will have a prevalence of sunny and stable weather in much of the country, with just some isolated afternoon thunderstorms in the eastern Alpine areas.

L’high pressure will also continue over the weekend of June 29th and 30th in Central-Southern Italy and on the Islands, where the days will be sunny and very hot indeedwith the possibility of temperatures reaching reach 40 degreesespecially in the South and in the Major Islands (about 10 degrees warmer than the typical heat for the end of June). In the North, however, instability will increase due to the arrival of a new disturbance (number 10 of June) which could be the cause of strong thunderstorms.

At the beginning of next week fresh Atlantic currents following a rapid disturbance in transit from North to South will cause a increase in instability also towards the central-southern regions, with one temporary relief from the heat in much of the country.

In the morning clear or at most slightly cloudy skies everywhere. In the afternoon, slightly increasing cloud cover over the Alps, with the possibility of some brief shower in the Alpine sector Oriental; always sunny and stable over the rest of Italy.
