A 39-year-old man was killed this evening in Vico del Gargano, in the Foggia area, inside his home in the Mannarella district, in the industrial area. The crime occurred in a family context. According to initial reports, the victim, a construction worker, was murdered by his father-in-law who is just over 60 years old. The position of the alleged murderer is being examined by investigators. The carabinieri maintain maximum confidentiality on the matter but from the little information that has leaked out it emerges that his father-in-law, probably at the height of an argument, hit him with several shots.
The mayor: “I know both families, all respectable people”
Mastromatteo was involved as a volunteer in the local civil protection. The whole community had great respect for him and his father-in-law. “I know both families – says the mayor Raffaele Scicio – they are respectable people, integrated into our community. There had never been any problem. I also know the father-in-law, retired a couple of years ago and first employee of the regional agency for irrigation and forestry activities. I really don’t know what could have happened.” Both families live in the same building.
