Few changes compared to what was said in previous editions. From Tuesday Italy will enter one diametrically opposite phaseaa the one that has interested us up to now. A sagging of arctic air will break out over central Europe, extending its influence first to the northern regions, then also to the center and south. The evolution will embrace some daysprobably until the weekend and will be accompanied by phenomena of late winter instability like showers, temporalhailstorms and also snowfall which will fall at relatively low altitudes considering the period. All seasoned with strong winds and from a significant drop in temperatures. In this regard, it should be noted that the descent below average will not be comparable to the above average phase that we are interested in, it will not be compensatory. We are currently at least 10/12°C above normal while by mid-week we will not go beyond 4/6°C below average. So let’s look at the general lines update about the weather we should expect during the week.

The arrival of cold air at the gates of Northern Italy it will manifest itself with i first storms on the Alpine sectors in the second part of today, mostly between the evening and night and then during the day Tuesday there will be the gradual transfer of cold air from the Bora gate and at that point the strong ones thermal contrasts will trigger the formation of a intense frontal system. Friuli, Veneto, Emilia Romagna on the front line with showers and thunderstorms which can also be strong and accompanied by hailstorms but, albeit in isolated form, showers and some thunderstorms may also occur between Lombardy, lower Piedmont and Liguria. Towards evening instability it will also begin to affect Tuscany, Umbria and Marche. At the same time the South will be crossed by one Afro-Mediterranean depression which will bring thunderstorms especially between Sicily, Calabria and Salento. All evolution will be accompanied by one strong ventilation who will see the Bora blowing on the Triestino even above 100km/h.

On the day of Wednesday the cold front will continue its march towards the south-east, bringing instability to the Center and the South. Expected showers and thunderstorms intermittent with possible hailstorms e snow in the Apennines at medium altitudes. The North, apart from the bordering Alps, will be in drier conditions with only isolated phenomena. The temperatures they will decrease further, ending up below average almost everywhere. Ventilation will still be strong from the western or northern quadrants.

Thursday we will witness the passage of a new front associated with a second cold pulse. Widespread instability expected on the Peninsula with greater involvement of the eastern sectors. More showers and thunderstorms expected hailstorms not excluded and snow in the Apennines even below 1000/1200m. Temperatures will drop a few more points to bring themselves widely below average. Ventilation will still be strong with a prevailing northern direction.
