Two types of salami produced by Salumificio F.lli Scappocchin recalled from the trade for microbiological risk. Two notices appeared on the Ministry of Health website, in the section dedicated to food product recalls by operators.
At risk are the “Salame nostrano” from Salumificio F.lli Scappocchin Srl and the “Salame nostrano con Aglio” from the same company.
The reason for the recall – as stated in the notices published by the ministry – it is the same for both products: presence of Listeria Monocytogenes. The production batch of “Salame nostrano” is 164/24, the factory headquarters is in Via Giorgio La Pira 14, Camposampiero (PD). Salami is sold by weight, from 600 to 800 grams. The Ministry of Health asks you not to consume the product and return the goods to the point of purchase.

As regards the second product withdrawn from the market due to microbiological risk, the “Salame Nostrano with Garlic”, the production batch is 165/24. The location of the factory is the same, also in this case the cured meat is sold by weight. And also for the “Salame Nostrano with Garlic” the reason for the ministry’s recall is for the presence of Listeria Monocytogenes.
Food contaminated by the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes they can trigger listeriosis, an infectious disease which in its most serious form can even be lethal. The pathogen can infect animals and different types of foods such as raw greens and vegetables, cheeses (especially soft ones), unpasteurized milk, undercooked meat, smoked fish, sausages and more. In healthy subjects, listeriosis normally manifests itself with symptoms similar to those of intestinal flu or food poisoning, i.e. with diarrhea, nausea, headache, fever, vomiting and muscle pain. Symptoms that normally disappear spontaneously and quickly.
