THE CONCERT Raffaella De Stefano and a “homecoming” between past and future

Five years later. Raffaella Destefano returns to perform where it all began, in her Lodi, her city of origin and the beginning of her now long musical journey. The refined “pop” singer-songwriter, former voice of Madreblu, a cult group of the nineties founded with Gino Marcelli, will be the protagonist of a concert on Saturday evening (9.30 pm) in the green space of the Canottieri in via Nazario Sauro. The event, included in the Lodi al sole programme, is obviously open to everyone: «Playing along the Adda is certainly a particular emotion: I have a relationship of great affection towards our river – says Raffaella, currently stationed in Pesaro -. I’m very happy to return to perform in Lodi, it will also be an opportunity to hug people I haven’t seen for a while. And to play the new songs from my new album, “Private Costellations”. Obviously there will be no shortage of classics from my repertoire, songs taken from my 6 solo albums or recorded with Madreblu.” Raffaella Destefano’s last concert in Lodi dates back to 2019, the “music party” at the Teatro alle Vigne to present the album “Un atlante di me”.

On the Canottieri stage, Raffaella will be accompanied by several long-time traveling companions: Luca Urbani, former member of Soerba and one of the producers of the new album (keyboards, programming). And then Marco Ferrara on bass, a musician who has also collaborated for a long time with Cristina Donà, Alessandro Parietti on drums and the guitarist Gaetano Maiorano, also among the producers of “Private Costellazioni”, a pop, electronic, singer-songwriter and enveloping project. «The album received very affectionate, almost emotional comments. It is a return to the sound of Madreblu, but with a look towards the future. We wanted to create a sort of nostalgia effect without becoming caricatures of ourselves. With this album another circle closed: it was like making peace with oneself, with the past. I recently turned fifty, I’m now mature enough to understand that what’s done is done, but at the same time I’m aware that there’s still a lot of history to be written.” The album also contains two Madreblu classics, such as “Gli angeli”, an authentic hit from 1997, and “Sono io”: the first with a new symphonic guise that gives pathos and depth, the second produced by Marco Rigamonti with trip hop sounds . But the backbone are the 9 splendid unreleased songs, plus an English song rewritten in Italian.
