For a few weeks in the States the rap world has been buzzing about the dissing triangle involving Kendrick Lamar, Drake and J Cole. The Pulitzer Prize winner lit the fuse at the end of March in his verse of the song Like Thattaken from the album We Don’t Trust You by Future and Metro Boomin, hit out at the two rivals with “There’s no such thing as the big three, there’s only me.”

A short distance away J Cole responded with 7 Minute Drill contained in his surprise album release Might Delete Later, only to later regret it on the Rolling Loud stage, calling the song “the lamest thing I’ve ever done”. Finally, over the weekend – anticipated by an advertising campaign by Rap Caviar and Spotify with posters with the slogan “Hip-hop is a competitive sport” – a leak of a possible new Drake song was leaked (Drop and Give Me 50) in which the Canadian rapper attacks Lamar, as well as Metro Boomin and Future.

But while the situation is becoming more tense in America, in Italy there are those who are laughing. This is the case of Salmo who yesterday published a post making fun of the response times of American diss tracks, referring to his famous beef with Luchè last summer. «In any case, American rappers take too long to respond to dissing songs», writes the Sardinian artist on Instagarm with the caption “Rapping is a competitive sport”, «Luchè and I made 6 songs in 3 days».
