PLOT THE BAY OF SILENCE
The Bay of Silencethe film directed by Paula van der Oest, stars the couple formed by Will (Claes Bang), his wife Rosalind (Olga Kurylenko) and their three children. When the woman and children suddenly disappear, Will leaves England and travels to Europe in search of his family. Not without difficulty, he finally manages to track them down in the north of France, in a remote village in Normandy.
But the joy of having found them again is short-lived. The man discovers that his youngest child is dead and that his wife, who rejects him, is suspected of infanticide. Will absolutely doesn’t want to believe this hypothesis, he is convinced of Rosalind’s innocence but still wants to find out at all costs the reason behind her running away with her children. And as he tries to unravel the mystery behind that gesture and his son’s death, he begins to realize that perhaps he doesn’t really know the person with whom he has shared his life in recent years. The woman seems to be hiding a terrible truth from her past which links her to a crime that has never been solved…
CURIOSITIES ABOUT THE BAY OF SILENCE
Based on the 1986 novel “The Bay of Silence” by English writer Lisa St Aubin de Terán.
The film was shot in various locations between England (where the scenes in France are also set), Scotland and Italy, in particular in Sestri Levante in Liguria. And it is precisely this last location that suggested the title of the film. “The Bay of Silence” it is in fact one of the most enchanting places on the Ligurian Riviera, repeatedly included among the 10 most beautiful beaches in Italy.
