There is still little left, at least in the USA, for the release of “The gladiator 2” by Ridley Scott, with Paul Mescal and Pedro Pascal. The scheduled date is November 22nd, in the meantime the long-awaited first images have been released.
Let’s go in order. The set was set up in rural Sussex. But not only also in Morocco and Malta. At the center of the plot is Lucius, son of Lucilla and nephew of the evil Commodus, saved by Maximus Decimus Meridius (Russell Crowe) at the end of the first film. Now grown up he has the face of star Paul Mescal, who appears very casual in the role of the character complete with full armour, bloodied and battered. Needless to say, he’s very reminiscent of Russell Crowe.
The Irish actor will have to deal with a series of threats, and there will be no shortage of fights in the arena. Twenty-four years after the cult film, winner of five Oscars, director Scott assures in a video message: “It could be more extraordinary than the first. It’s worth the wait.” Crowe’s character will still be present in this second chapter, appearing in some flashbacks. Without a doubt “Gladiator 2” will be one of the most interesting titles on the cinematographic panorama of next autumn-winter.
