The film You are in the soul begins with a question: “What is happiness?” And you answer: “A glass of wine, a piano and a motorbike in the garden.” What does the motorbike represent for you?
“For me, the motorbike is zen. Today I keep it in the garage. I had my first motorbike when I was 16, it was a Honda 125, my father bought it for me. Then, when I moved to live from Siena to Milan, I I bought my first used motorbike, it was a Honda 500 Custom, which I still have, and which I take care of: every now and then I change parts and go on tours in the Tuscan countryside although, I must admit, I use it a little less than then.” .
What sensation do two wheels give you?
“A sense of freedom. As a girl I went around without a helmet and I got hurt twice. I liked the wind in my face. It’s no coincidence that my first real song was Wind“.
Where do you like to ride a motorbike?
“A bit everywhere, except on cross-country courses. I’m not that good. I’ve toured Corsica and Sardinia in a tent. Now I’m going (in Tuscan, ed) in the hotel,” he laughs.
Have you ever challenged your brother Alessandro in the car?
“I have an anecdote to tell. Once I wanted to learn how to take turns and I went after him in a rental car. I crashed into a wall in Siena, instead of taking the turn. He no longer saw me and went back and he told me: “Giannina I always told you that you just have to sing”.
Do you have a favorite trip?
“To Corsica, Sardinia and Sicily. I also went to Paris on a motorbike. I remember that I was in London and I sold all the gold I had on me, even the communion chain, and I bought a 250. Another Honda with which I toured Holland and Belgium, until arriving in Paris”.
