FEUD 2: The plot and cast of Capote vs. The Swans

Based on the bestseller by Laurence Leamer Capote’s Women: A True Story of Love, Betrayal, and a Swan Song for an Era, FEUD: Capote vs. The Swans follows Truman Capote as he surrounds himself with a group of society’s most elite women – rich and glamorous exponents of the New York socialites of a bygone era – who he nicknamed “the swans”. Among them are grande dame Barbara ‘Babe’ Paley (Watts), Slim Keith (Lane), CZ Guest (Sevigny), Lee Radziwill (Flockhart), Ann ‘Bang-Bang’ Woodward (Moore) and Joanne Carson (Ringwald) . Also in the cast Treat Williams as Bill Paley, Joe Mantello in those of Jack Dunphy while Russell Tovey plays John O’Shea. Written for television by Jon Robin Baitz, FEUD: Capote Vs. The Swans it was directed by Gus Van Sant, Max Winkler and Jennifer Lynch.

Enchanted and fascinated by these noblewomen, Capote ingratiated himself into their lives, befriending them and becoming their confidant, only to then betray them by writing a thinly veiled account of their lives, exposing their most intimate secrets. When an excerpt from the book “Answered Prayers,” Capote’s magnum opus, was published in Esquire, it effectively destroyed his relationship with the swans, banished him from the high society he loved so much, and sent him into a spiral of self-destruction from which he would never recover.
