Warner Bros. shared a new clip from Beetlejuice 2 during CinemaCon, confirming who summons the ghost of Michael Keaton.
After first trailer Of Beetlejuice 2to the CinemaCon 2024 an extended clip of the sequel was shown which would reveal some more details regarding the plot and, specifically, would also reveal which character would have summoned the ghost interpreted by Michael Keaton. Warner Bros. actively participated in the event by sharing interesting information on upcoming projects, including of course the Beetlejuice sequel directed once again by Tim Burton. The film should arrive in theaters in September 2024 and, to combat the wait, a new clip was shown during CinemaCon that would have revealed who was responsible for the revival of Beetlejuice.
Beetlejuice 2, a new clip reveals who summoned the ghost
As reported Screen Rant, while the clip itself was pretty similar to the one shared with the first trailer, it added new details about the old and new characters involved in the film. The plot partially revealed in the first trailer revisits the Deetz family together once again in Winter River for the funeral of Charles Deetz interpreted by Jeffrey Jones. The ending of the trailer then shows the return of the ghost played by Michael Keaton, exactly as happened in the first 1988 film. But who would awaken him from eternal sleep? Second Screen Rantwho admired the preview clip, would be responsible Lydia Deetza character played once again by Winona Ryder. It is Lydia who evokes Beetlejuice by pronouncing his name three times. In fact, in the teaser, Lydia is shocked by her actions and, before summoning the ghost, she scolds herself: “I can’t believe I’m about to do this”.
The trailer shows a distraught Lydia, but perhaps more impressed by the fact that the summoning itself worked after all those years. This means that Beetlejuice’s return was not caused by an accident, but was wanted by Lydia. Why? This is a valuable question that could hide the true plot of the film and the answer to which has not currently been shared. Could Lydia have summoned the ghost to save someone she loves in grave danger? What if that someone in question were her children Astridplayed by Jenna Ortega?
