“I live in Ibiza, but I’m forced to work…”

Thomas Bernibefore becoming Inter’s third goalkeeper and hanging up his gloves without ever playing with the Nerazzurri shirt, he wore that of the Lazio for 5 years, taking to the field on only six occasions. The memory of him in the capital is more linked to the personality he possessed in the locker room, rather than to his performances. Since 2020 he has decided to say goodbye to the world of football and move to Ibiza where, for some years, he has worked as a concierge and owns a percentage of a restaurant. He told it to the microphones of Corriere della Sera, explaining how he is forced to get busy as he can no longer ‘make a living’ despite his career as a footballer:

I live in Ibizawhere my wife has been working in the holistic and curanderismo field for 11 years. I’m carrying out various things, I have a small percentage in a club and I’m a concierge, even though I haven’t founded any company. Rental boats, cars, villas or apartments. I have to work, I can’t afford to live on an income. I was privileged, playing football I earned more than average. But not so much that I can manage my savings. Also because it is no longer the same Ibiza. Prices have become crazy, from hotels to restaurants and rentals. A room costs around 1000 euros. I love the sea and boats. I’ve already taken two exams to become a yacht captain, five in total and it’s no joke. In short, I started studying again, I who as a boy was unable to continue my studies. I’ve always been sorry, but you never stop learning.”
