Greeted by a few hundred people – including several children with bouquets of flowers – Carlo stayed inside to talk to patients who like him are fighting cancer, while he discussed the latest news in the field of research with specialists : on the occasion of the visit, Buckingham Palace announced that the king has become the new patron of the charity Cancer Research UKa role previously held by his mother Elisabetta.
In choosing the first commitment after approximately three months breakCarlo wanted to pay homage to the doctors and the thousands of people suffering from cancer like him. The kinga spokesperson specified, he is not healed: the therapy continues but the sovereign he’s reacting well and there’s room for a little optimism. For the moment, Carlo will not return to work at the same pace as before, but he “is very happy” to have been able to show himself in public again.
Elegant in blue suit and pink tieCharles – underlined Buckingham Palace – wanted to underline the importance of a sudden diagnosis and at the same time that it is possible to live a full life even during treatment: «Cancer is a scary word, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be scary as an experience».
There are no updates, however, on the health conditions of Catherine: the Princess of Wales announced in March that, following theabdominal operation suffered in January, doctors had detected the presence of tumor cells. The princess is undergoing a cycle of preventive chemotherapy.
