With its story halfway between espionage and action, come on Netflix it is possible to find a film with a not very well-known title which is an adaptation of the novel “Body of Lies” by Washington Post journalist David Ignatius.
Directed by Ridley Scott (“Blade Runner”, “Gladiator”, “Thelma & Louise”) and produced by Warnen Bros Pictures, Scott Free Productions And DeLine Picturesits Italian title is “No truth”. The lead actors are two big names in Hollywood.
It’s about Leonardo Dicaprio (“The Wolf of Wall Street”, “The Great Gatsby”, “Try to catch me“) And Russell Crowe (“A Beautiful Mind”, “American Gangster”, “That train to Yuma”), dealing with a story divided between spies, intrigue and violence. A action movie captivating and engaging, in Middle Eastern settings full of tension following a manhunt to the death.
The screenplay has the merit of reworking the novel from which the film takes inspiration, making it dry and overwhelming. The tension is elaborated thanks to a very careful use of color, deliberately very warm. All to outline a ruthless environment with a dense network of alliances between agencies and secret services between the USA and Jordan.
An interesting film that Netflix makes available in its library for those who want to see it again and for the many who have never seen it. In fact, we are talking about a title that may have escaped most people’s attention, but which could instead be a great discovery for lovers of the genre.
Looking at the Web, it is possible to see how its ratings remain average. On Google the percentage of users who liked it was 67%, while analyzing votes and reviews on the two sites Rotten Tomatoes And IMDb we can see an audience score of 62% and a 7 out of 10 respectively.
“Do not trust anybody. It deceives everyone”, so says the poster of the film. And actually already taking a look at the trailer on Youtube you can see all the anguish that grips the protagonist DiCaprio, involved both in the unclear intentions of his American supervisors and in those of the Jordanian secret services. In a continuous struggle and a desperate race to resolve the case, but also and above all to their own survival.
There plot of this title in streaming on Netflix stars CIA agent Roger Ferris, sent to the Jordanian city of Amman with the aim of capturing a dangerous Al Qaeda terrorist with the support of local intelligence.
He must make sure to ruin his plan to attack the United States. Ferris is guided remotely by the impassive Ed Hoffman, who will tell him to infiltrate a terrorist cell involving an innocent architect.
The agent, however, does not inform the Jordanian secret services of his moves, to the detriment of his own safety. Thus begins a fight for survival, as well as terrorism, in an atmosphere that will prove increasingly dark and dangerous.
