Yesterday – Thursday 28 March – was very positive at the box office with schools closed for the Easter holidays. Cinetel takings were 1,286,262 euros (182,234 spectators) on 2,715 screens, +156% compared to a year ago (but it wasn’t Easter) and +86% compared to a week ago.
He remains at the top of the standings Kung Fu Panda 4 with a significant collection of 461,924 euros (+28% compared to a week ago, also thanks to the closed schools) for a total of 5,246,967 euros. The animated film is present in 460 cinemas with an average of 1,004 euros per structure; these parties will give a big boost to the film’s commercial results. We remember that Kung Fu Panda 3 in 2016 it grossed 8.3 million and number 4 could surpass it by Monday.
Very good debut in second position for the fantasy movie Godzilla and Kong – The New Empire which starts with 396,677 euros and an excellent average of 1,121 euros per cinema (354). The previous Godzilla vs. Kongreleased in 2021 in the midst of Covid, did not go beyond 149,993 euros while Godzilla 2: King of the Monsters in 2019 it reached 2.2 million (released on May 30, it debuted with 190 thousand euros) and it is with this title that it is more correct to compare the new film in the saga. There are all the conditions to overcome the collection of four years ago.
Very positive start from third place A world apart which still sees Riccardo Milani and Antonio Albanese together. The film debuted with 177,336 euros and an average of 371 euros per cinema (478). The previous Thank you guysagain with Milani-Albanese and released on 12 January 2023, had grossed 2.7 million with a starting price of 45,757 euros and a first weekend of 779 thousand euros.
Fourth position for Priscilla by Sofia Coppola which on its second day in theaters grossed 56,242 euros for a total of 113,171 euros and an average of 179 euros per cinema (315).
In fifth position we find the dominator of recent weeks. Dune – Part 2 closes the day with 48,675 euros (-23%) for a total of 9,325,646 euros.
The other films in the top 10 remain further away with The area of interest sixth with 19,869 euros (-33%) and a total of 4,258,738 euros. Seventh position for Race for Glory – Audi vs. Lance with 16,687 euros (-51%) and a total of 1,147,586 euros. Eighth position for May December with 16,246 euros (-49%) and a total of 418,062 euros.
As for the other new releases, we highlight The children of Gaza in twelfth position with 6,709 euros; Margherita’s theorem sixteenth with 3,169 euros and the doc Orlando, My Political Biography twentieth with 2,179 euros.
