L’Italy immediately returns to the field to tackle Malta in his second qualifying match for Euro 2024. A challenge, the one that awaits the Azzurri, one of the already important ones, given that the journey started in the worst possible way.
The 2-1 home defeat suffered against England in fact made the path uphill from the start and, even if the discussion is obviously still very long, the ideal would be to start putting points in the farmhouse so as not to risk finding yourself having to make frantic chases.

In fact, the ‘Knights of St. John’ national team also began its qualifying process with a defeat: the 2-1 one in Skopje against North Macedonia.

On the second day of the group stage, the other scheduled match is the one that will see England host Ukraine at Wembley.
What will take place will be the ninth overall confrontation between Malta and Italy and the overall balance depends entirely on the side of the national team: eight victories in as many challenges, with twenty-one goals scored and two conceded.
The last direct clash between the two teams dates back to 3 September 2015, when at the Artemio Franchi in Florence, in another qualifying match for the European Championships, Italy prevailed 1-0 thanks to a goal by Graziano Pellé.
