Last Wednesday 26 Juneat the Council Hall of the Town Hallin the presence of the mayor Giorgio Abonanteit happened symbolic donation of a reader for the visually impaired and blind at the Alessandria Civic Library “Francesca Calvo”which will thus become increasingly inclusive.
Why symbolic? Why the actual donation, with installation and connection to the internet, will take place in September in the room that was named in 2017 after Helen Keller.

Supporters of the donation Lions Club International Bosco Marengo Santa Croce, in collaboration with the Lions Club Gavi and Colline del Gaviil Lions Club Bosco Marengo La Fraschetta and the Lions Club Alessandria Emergency and Rescue.

The initiative

The Lions wanted it follow the example of Helen Kelleran American writer and teacher, deaf-blind since the age of 19 months, who he urged to fight against the darkness and become Knights of Light. With their commitment and multiple services, the Clubs have always been committed to the preservation of sight and assistance to the blind or partially sighted.

Specifically developed for all users, independent of the visual residue, with thescreen magnification and the reading with text-to-speechincluding web browsing, they promote access to knowledge and culturemaking the Civic Library of Alexandria a place increasingly accessible to all potential users and allowing anyone to cultivate the pleasure of reading.
