Dog kennel discovered in an apartment in Palermo

PALERMO, JULY 1 – A makeshift kennel was discovered by police officers in via Castelforte in Palermo. In a home, the animals were not being kept in a regular manner. Some were tied with chains attached to the tables on the veranda or to the refrigerator, while the smaller ones, small Chihuahuas and French bulldogs of a few years old, were locked in bird cages. Several reports had arrived at the San Lorenzo police station. The police found 25 dogs. Three people, whose position is being examined by the Prosecutor’s Office, were identified while the animals were seized for investigation. The ground floor apartment with a garden and veranda had the railings obscured with large garden sheets. The bad smell was everywhere. Several residents of the area had called 112 suspecting that there might have been someone who had died in the house days before, but no one would mention barking dogs. And instead, in the home in the Partanna area there were dozens of animals, many of which were not in good health, but all dirty and certainly kept in an irregular manner. Veterinarians from ASP also intervened. Many dogs did not have microchips. The animals were entrusted to a volunteer association.
