Viterbo – We receive and publish – The University of Tuscia has been rewarded by the European Union, receiving funding of around two million euros under the Erasmus+ programme.

This extraordinary result was achieved thanks to the work, constant commitment and dedication of our academic community in pursuing excellence and international openness. With this funding, we will be able to continue to offer opportunities for experiences abroad to the student community, teachers and technical-administrative staff, and to promote cultural diversity on our campuses. It is important to remember that those who participate in Erasmus programs have a 40% greater chance of finding a job in line with their skills“, declared the Rector Stefano Ubertini.

A part of the total contribution, equal to over half a million euros, is dedicated to the KA131 mobility program, which concerns students, teachers and technical-administrative staff of the university towards over 300 European partner universities, for study activities, internship, teaching and training activities.

The second part of the contribution, equal to approximately one and a half million euros, will support mobility with universities in partner countries outside the European Union, as part of the Erasmus+ Program (Key Action KA171). The main objective is to promote the incoming and outgoing mobility of students, teaching and administrative staff, supporting the priorities established by the European Education Area, the Digital Education Action Plan and the European Skills Agenda .

Several universities from non-European countries, including Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia Herzegovina, Georgia, Ukraine, South Africa, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and Palestine, will participate in the exchange program under the coordination of the University of Tuscia. This collaboration will help position the University of Viterbo as a point of reference among Italian universities for attractiveness and number of international students, especially from the Caucasus, the Balkans and the Mediterranean countries.

The mobility projects, which will involve all the university departments, will last three years and will play a fundamental role in improving the international dimension of the university. The teaching and technical-administrative staff will have the opportunity to participate in exchange experiences, following the long-term strategy of the University of Tuscia to promote the mobility of a growing number of students, with particular attention to situations of need and hardship. These projects will also have a positive impact on the Italian student community that will not have the opportunity to go abroad, since they will favor a widespread process of internationalization.

Simone Severini, the Rector’s Delegate for International Relations, commented: “This is an extraordinary result that confirms the international prestige that our university enjoys on the topic of mobility and international cooperation and that strengthens our internationalization strategy. These programs will allow our students to broaden their horizons, improve their language skills, discover new cultures and live experiences. All this will ultimately broaden their cultural and occupational prospects” and he also added: “The arrival of numerous international students and researchers at our University will also have positive economic repercussions on the territory in which we operate, as demonstrated by the recent national study ‘International students in Italy: main features and economic impact’ carried out by the Uni-Italia association”.

Carlo Contardo, coordinator of the International Mobility and Cooperation office, added: “The program will place special emphasis on the mobility of young people with fewer opportunities, that is, those who, for various reasons, have less access to exchange programs, such as economic reasons , social, cultural, geographical, health or learning difficulties”.
