VAT Fund for Ports, 2 Million Euros Coming to Civitavecchia

Almost 2 million euros. Or rather, to be precise, 1,937,858.91 euros. This is the amount that is due this year to the Port Authority of the Central Northern Tyrrhenian Sea, and therefore in particular to the ports of Civitavecchia, Fiumicino and Gaeta, within the framework of the so-called distribution of the so-called VAT fund. These are funds that are granted to support the construction of works in the ports through the provision of 1% of the VAT produced by each individual maritime port.

This year, however, the amount distributed by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport is significantly lower than expected. This, according to what was explained by the ministry itself, is because the cut had been established during the approval of the 2022 Budget Law, which took place in December 2021. Molo Vespucci in 2021 had produced VAT for over three hundred and thirty million euros (to be precise 337,535,457.74 euros) and was probably expecting the disbursement of a much more substantial sum than the little more than 537 thousand euros that will arrive from the Ministry and which were determined through a proportional distribution among the 16 Italian port authorities of 80% of the sum established by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport itself. Fortunately, the local port authority has returned to the remaining 20% of the 46 million euros allocated, together with three other entities, the Adsp of the Western Sicilian Sea, the Southern Tyrrhenian and Ionian Sea and the Sea of Sardinia. In this context, an additional 1.4 million euros will arrive at Molo Vespucci for the “maintenance of the docks of the port of Civitavecchia in order to guarantee their functionality”. Overall, even considering the cuts implemented this year by the Ministry, it is not a significant amount, but, as they say, better than nothing…
