In the 1time Rennes South constituencythe outgoing deputy Frédéric Mathieu, ousted by his party LFI, is not a candidate for his succession, “for lack of substitute“. Marie Mesmeur from Brest, invested by the New Popular Front, intended to keep this Rennes constituency on the left: with 42.31% of the votes cast, she came out on top in the first round. She is defending a programme which, according to her, “goes on needs like hospitals, school and free canteen. While the RN only relies on news items to bring about division“.

Nicolas Boucher, president of the Modem of Ille-et-Vilaine and candidate for “Together! Presidential majority” is credited with 31.88%, ahead of Jeanne Rey du Boissieu (National Rally) and her 12.59%.

In the 2nd constituency Rennes North-East Cessona rematch of the 2022 duel between Laurence Maillart-Méhaignerie (Ensemble – Presidential Majority) and Tristan Lahais (New Popular Front) was to be expected.

The results of the first round are in favor of the NFP candidate, credited with 40.31% of the votes cast against 34.24% for Laurence Maillart-Méhaignerie.

Laurence Maillart-Méhaignerie, interviewed on the France 3 Bretagne set, indicated : “this is a first step in the campaign. The objective of the second round will be to clarify things. My competitor never said that he was in alliance with LFI and Jean-Luc Mélenchon. I think we need this necessary clarification so that people know who they are voting for.”

A three-way race is likely since RN candidate Bérénice Vanhaecke reached 17.43%, allowing her to reach the second round.

In the 3rd (Rennes North West – Saint-Méen), the results are just as close. If Claudia Ruaux (New Popular Front) comes out on top in the first round with 35.2% of the votes cast, she is closely followed by two candidates: Charlotte Faillé from the Horizons party (30.5%) and Virginie d’Orsanne from the Rassemblement national (28.9%) are credited with high scores.

While a triangular is possible, Virginie d’Orsanne considered that, in view of the national results, “the true right is at the National Rallyon the France 3 Bretagne set.

The 4th constituency (Redon – Bain de Bretagne) was undoubtedly the most undecided in Ille-et-Vilaine. Outgoing MP Mathilde Hignet (New Popular Front), narrowly elected in 2022, is neck and neck with National Rally candidate Jacques François who came out on top. This is one of five Breton constituencies won by Jordan Bardella’s party.

This is the constituency where the National Rally achieved its best score in the 2022 legislative elections. Nearly 17.5% of the votes in the first round in 2022. In the current political configuration, we can expect an even higher score. And therefore to have a triangular with a frontist candidate, the left and the presidential party” analyzed political scientist Thomas Frinault before the first round.

In the 5th constituency (Vitré-La Guerche), Christine Le Nadour (Ensemble – Renaissance) has every chance of retaining her seat. Opposed only to three other candidates, the outgoing MP from the presidential majority party gathered 42.4% of the votes cast and came well ahead in the first round of the legislative elections.

National Rally candidate Françoise Gilois took second place with 29.8% of the vote, ahead of Gilles Renault (New Popular Front), credited with 25.9%. A triangular is possible but Jean-Luc Mélenchon called on the NFP candidates who came third to withdraw to prevent the RN from winning in the second round.

Elected with nearly 62% of the vote in the 2022 legislative elections, Thierry Benoît appeared to be the strongest candidate for his own succession in the 6e constituency (Fougères). The results of the first round place him in a very favorable position to win these 2024 legislative elections: 41.8% of the votes cast this Sunday June 30 are in his favor.

Among his opponents, the RN candidate Tangi Marion came in second place (30.9%), just ahead of Esla Lafaye of the New Popular Front party (25.1%).

Historically anchored on the right, the 7e constituency (Saint-Malo) should remain so. Jean-Luc Bourgeaux, replaced by the mayor of Saint-Malo Gilles Lurton, seemed to hold the rope for his re-election. And the results of the 1st round point in this direction.

The various right-wing candidate, who left the Les Républicains party after Eric Ciotti’s announcements on the LR and RN rapprochement, obtained 43.3% of the votes cast. A very high score which places it far ahead of its competitors.

Dylan Lemoine of the National Rally is credited with 28.2% while Nicolas Guivarc’h (New Popular Front) obtains 22.2% of the votes: thanks to their score, the two men can run in the second round.

This is a unique case in Brittany: Mickaël Bouloux is re-elected in the first round in the 8th constituency (Rennes South West). The outgoing MP invested by New Popular Front obtained 52.84%, an impressive score in the political context.

I thank all the voters for their trust. Beyond that, I cannot rejoice in the national results. There is something at stake now. As of tomorrow, I will be where I am considered most useful in helping the New Popular Front candidates win.” said Mickaël Bouloux on France Bleu.

In this constituency, the presidential majority candidate Hermine Mauze achieved an honourable score of 25.69% while the National Rally, represented by Kellie Lucco, obtained 14.44% of the votes cast.
