It is the day of the Tour de France in the province of Cuneo. Today, Monday 1st July, the Piacenza-Turin stage will bring the Grande Boucle caravan to the roads of Cuneo (more precisely of the Langhe). Today’s is the longest stage of this edition of the Tour, with its 230.5 kilometres.

Starting from Piacenza at 11.45 am, the race will enter Piedmont from Pontecurone and Tortona, with a Mountain Grand Prix on the Castle climb called “Cote de Tortone – Fausto Coppi” in memory of the great Piedmontese champion. After passing through the provinces of Alessandria and Asti, the entrance into Granda for a stretch of 51.5 km passing through Alba, Baldissero d’Alba, Colle di Barbaresco, Ceresole d’Alba, Corneliano d’Alba, Guarene, Neive, Piobesi d’Alba, Santo Stefano Belbo, Sommariva Perno and Treiso. The passage in the province of Cuneo is expected between 2.40pm and 4.30pm (see the timetable at this link). Finally the yellow caravan will enter the Turin area, finishing in the city of Mole in front of the Inalpi Arena.

Tomorrow, Tuesday 2 July, the race will leave Italy to reach France with the Pinerolo-Valloire: the climb to the 2035 metres of the Colle del Sestriere in front of the monument dedicated to Fausto Coppi is planned, followed by Monginevro and Galibier (hills) to reach the first French finish line of this edition of the Tour.

Wearing the yellow jersey will be Giro d’Italia dominator Tadej Pogacar, already leader of the general classification after the first two stages.
