“Amos” Ricci salutes as an amaranth flag: A2 conquered and divorce from Libertas Livorno

A tangible sign, impossible to erase. Antonello Ricci has entered the history of Libertas Livorno and for over twenty-four hours, on social media, the farewell messages from the Amaranth fans are many but above all moving and full of loving words.

The ones that “Amos”, the nickname of the expert guard from Vasto, has earned since 2020 when he accepted the call from Livorno. 4 intense years, a total of 149 appearances, 1618 points and above all the promotion to A2 achieved twenty days ago (laws). In view of the new championship, the Libertas management has decided not to continue the relationship with the thirty-two year old from Vasto: «The blood has become amaranth – we read in the post that appeared on Facebook – Skin burned by the salt. From Livorno. Amos Ricci: you will always be one of us. The word ‘thank you’ is a grain of sand in front of the mountain of emotions and joys you have given us. Eternal gratitude. Libertassino forever».

“Amos” responded with a long post on Instagram: «Look Livorno what we did together, look where we are now. I joined the Libertas Livorno project 4 years ago with the intention of bringing back a people’s passion for basketball and trying to win a championship as ambitious as Serie B. To make this happen I gave it my all, even playing with a broken rib and half a season without an ankle. In the meantime I met fantastic people who always made me feel at home in every single moment of my stay in Livorno and who I want to thank. I have experienced joys and sorrows inside the locker room and I thank each of my teammates for having put up with me.. We reached 3 finals in 4 years, we participated in 2 Italian Cups, we won the championship and went to Serie A. We have earned ourselves a docu-series that will be broadcast on the most important streaming platforms. Now it’s time to say goodbye, I wouldn’t have imagined leaving you at the best moment but the technical choices are different and all I can do is accept their decisionthanking me for what has been given to me over the years. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

The very long parenthesis with Libertas Livorno is over at 32 the doors open for a new adventureAntonello “Amos” Ricci will try to make his mark elsewhere.
