The San Rocco Neighborhood Committee, authorized by the Municipality of Cuneo, is honored to announce that it will offer hospitality to the Alpini Group, evicted from the historic headquarters in Via Mellana by decision of the National Association of War Veterans (ANCR). The group leader Paolo Monaco together with numerous Alpine soldiers of the Group, returned the keys on 29 June 2024 and then handed the premises back to the ANCR manager accompanied by the lawyer Davide Dalmasso.
Despite decades of collaboration with the Veterans Section and the continuous service of the Alpini Group to the community, the recent change in the ANCR statute has led to a request for arrears or the sale of the premises, once donated for community purposes, at inadequate prices. The Alpini Group’s proposals for a sustainable lease or purchase were not accepted by the ANCR, thus leading to eviction. The Alpini Sectional Group is not only a clear point of reference for our community, but is also a custodian of memory, honoring our fallen and veterans of war at every opportunity. The San Rocco Neighborhood Committee believes it is essential to respect the spirit of the original donation and is committed to supporting the Alpini Group in this critical moment, offering them hospitality in its headquarters. We invite the entire community and institutions to join us in supporting the Alpini Group and to collaborate to find just and lasting solutions.
