Two athletes from Ferrara, who grew up in the Canoa Club Ferrara, won the Junior and Under 23 World Championships in Liptovsky Mikulaš, Slovakia. They are Marta Bertoncelli and Elena Borghi who, together with Elena Micozzi, were awarded world champions for the Canadian women’s team race. They are joined by another “made in Ferrara” award, that of Andrea Nardo from Vigarano Pieve, who won silver with the junior kayak team. “Investing in young people is very important, even more so in sports. The results are coming and are increasingly coming from the athletes from Ferrara. I thank Elena Borghi, Marta Bertoncelli and Andrea Nardo, their families, their trainers and all the staff of the Canoa Club Ferrara for the results obtained. Ferrara is making itself known and appreciated in the world also thanks to their very important awards”, is the applause of the mayor of Ferrara, Alan Fabbri. “Giving recognition and value to sport, to all sports, is one of the objectives we have set ourselves, ensuring adequate spaces to grow talents and, more generally, to train the new generations who, through sporting discipline, learn about team play and the value of victory”, adds the Councilor for Sport, Francesco Carità.
