The first round of the 2024 legislative elections in the 8th constituency of Ille-et-Vilaine was marked by a clear victory for Mickaël Bouloux, candidate of the New Popular Front. With an abstention rate of 25.21%, participation was relatively high compared to previous elections.

With 52.84% of the votes, Mickaël Bouloux managed to obtain an absolute majority in the first round, a remarkable result in the French context. This success can be attributed to several factors: the mobilization of its left-wing electorate, field work, the incumbent bonus and undoubtedly an effective campaign.

With 25.69%, Hermine Mauze (Together for the Government) recorded a respectable result, but not enough to compete with Mickaël Bouloux. The presidential majority suffered from the wear and tear of power and a less committed electoral base than that of the left. Behind her, Kellie Lucco’s score, 14.40%, shows a significant rise of the National Rally in a left-wing land.

The Republicans, represented by Mahé Gargam, obtained only 4.97% of the votes. This score confirms the trend of the weakening of the traditional right, unable to stand out in an increasingly polarized political landscape. Maël Egron (regionalist) and Fabrice Lucas (Far Left), with respectively 1.13% and 0.96% of the votes, collected crumbs.
