Testolin, ‘the emergency is putting the Aosta Valley to the test’

AOSTA, JUNE 30 – “This emergency is putting the Aosta Valley to the test, but it has brought out the community spirit, the sense of duty and the great professionalism of all the structures involved without interruption since yesterday: professionals, volunteers and administrators public whom I want to thank for their work and commitment”. Thus the president of the Valle d’Aosta Region, Renzo Testolin, regarding the consequences of the bad weather. This morning Testolin participated in the Rescue Coordination Center at the regional civil protection headquarters. “In these hours – he explained – we are focusing above all on the accessibility of the Cogne valley which requires important interventions that cannot be solved in the short term as well as on the services and needs of the community which is isolated by the interrupted roads, but the attention it is also high on the extensive damage to Breuil-Cervinia and on the restoration of traffic in the lower valley”. Furthermore, “we asked the local administrators of all the municipalities involved to start counting the damage in order to arrive at an overall estimate in the next few days. The regional council will meet in the afternoon for an initial survey of all the problems”.
