It’s about a “very complex” affair which “consists of mutual complaints between the parties before Italian and Albanian courts”. This is what the lawyer was keen to point out Anila Haliliwho with his colleague Fabio Galli assists the man, a 35 year old Albanian who was sent to trial by the judge of Cremona for stalking his ex.

Attorney Anila Halili

“Our client,” stressed lawyer Halili, “is a young Albanian perfectly integrated into the Italian community since the age of 11, with no criminal record, whose minor children were taken away by his ex-Italian partner. To this day he is prevented from freely seeing his children, a grave injustice that must be remedied.”

According to the defense, “It all stems from economic issues related to an investment on Albanian territory on which the former couple has not reached a settlement agreement. The children are paying a high price for unresolved economic issues between their parents.”

The lawyers have pointed out that in Albania the ex-partner was “acquitted of the charges of physical and psychological violence against the womanwho accused him unjustly, even subjecting him to precautionary measures. The Albanian court, at the end of the proceedings, issued a declaration of innocence of the accused for the crime of domestic violence in the form of psychological violence, ordering the cessation of the security measure”.

Lawyer Simona Bracchi

The lawyer Simona Bracchiwhich assists the Cremonese company as a civil party, reiterates that “the defendant has a conviction for domestic violence which was also confirmed on appeal. It is a fact – declared the lawyer – that cannot be denied in any way”.

“With respect to the accusation of stalking,” the defendant’s lawyers argue, “the current referral to trial will be the subject of the ongoing proceedings, for facts that all need to be demonstrated in the appropriate venues. Justice is taking its course and we trust in the Italian judiciary to definitively clarify the groundlessness of the accusations in the interests of the parties involved”. The trial in Cremona will open on December 2nd.
