This morning, Abbanoa’s emergency response teams are once again working on the pipeline crossing Viale Porto Torres in Sassari, where a further break was found. The works, less complex than those carried out last Saturday, should be completed by the end of the morning. However, the fault caused the interruption of water supply in the districts of Centro Storico, Latte Dolce, Santa Maria di Pisa, Sacro Cuore, Monte Rosello Basso and Piandanna. The supply will be restored at the end of the intervention.

The water situation in Sassari has been problematic for some time. Just a few days ago, an explosion in a pipeline caused serious disruptions. The problem mainly stems from aging water infrastructure and a lack of adequate maintenance. The old pipelines are subject to frequent breakages, causing regular interruptions in service. According to the Municipality of Sassari, the recent interruptions are related to repairs and extraordinary maintenance work on several critical pipelines, including the one on Viale Porto Torres.

Abbanoa has faced a series of emergencies, including the need to replace significant sections of pipes to prevent further breakages. To resolve the issue, Abbanoa technicians are taking immediate measures, such as regulating maneuvers to optimize water distribution to users and installing temporary alternative pipes. These interventions aim to minimize disruptions during repair work. Despite these measures, the situation remains critical. It is essential that the Municipality and Abbanoa continue to work together to plan long-term interventions, aimed at the complete replacement of the oldest pipes and the modernization of the city’s water infrastructure.

Frequent water outages have caused distress among residents, with many families going without water for hours or days at a time. The latest outage has reignited criticism of water management and the need for urgent structural work. The city council has promised to monitor the situation closely and work with Abbanoa to ensure that work proceeds as quickly as possible. Resolving these issues will require sustained and significant commitment from all parties involved to ensure a stable and reliable water supply for all citizens of Sassari.
