The reconstruction of the accident
The accident occurred around 8pm on the cliff along one side of the scenic Salt Valley, known for its rock arch, near Għarb. The Maltese police reported that the driver of the quad, who managed to save himself by reporting only light woundshe lost control of the vehicle, apparently due to a steering problem. And this would have prevented him from changing direction.

Furthermore, it seems that the guide of the group of hikers, fearing to arrive late and miss the sunset, has prompted everyone to speed up. The dust raised and the poor grip, being on the dirt road, would have prevented the driver of the quad from stopping in time before the end of the cliff, which overlooks the sea.
The body of the young Italian was recovered after research, but the young woman is dead for the injuries sustained. The man, however, was treated for minor injuries at Gozo hospital. The magistrate Brigitte Sultana is conducting an investigation.
