More medals for Polesano canoeists from the regional competition in Ferrara

FERRARA – Sunday 30 June 2024 was another day to remember for the Polesine Rovigo Canoe Group. The Rodigina company returns home with another respectable haul 21 medals including 11 gold, 6 silver and 4 bronze. The medals were won at the Regional Championships for the Emilia Romagna region over the 200m distance which was held at the Vigarano oasis in the province of Ferrara.

The event, open to all federal categories, saw a good participation of Emilian and Venetian clubs. The Polesani, despite the absences due to the holidays, fielded for this event 23 athletes distributed on 31 crews and 40 race athletes in total.

Proceeding in order of category, among the female A students we find the very good one Adele Mancini who wins his first gold medal. In the same race her teammate Giulia Pelizzari she is fourth. For men in singles, very good also for Luke From Trento who is showing continuous improvements, finishing his effort in third position in a very well attended race.

In the specialty of K2 also great for the new signings of the team with Lorenzo Tumiati e John Baldo who win their gold medal.

For the Allievi B category, great satisfaction for the youngsters Anna Lucchin e Silvia Zambon gold and bronze respectively in the individual competition and gold again in the K2 520 competition. Among the males the pair of Francesco Zanirato e Thomas Gazzieri they win gold in the Canadian double specialty and bronze in K2. In the individual races they both crossed the finish line in fifth position in their respective series.

In the female Cadet A category Glenda Simonetta e Irene Bedon they are respectively gold and silver in the individual competition and gold in the pairs competition. Glenda also competed in the Canadian where she won her third gold of the day.

Among males, Leonardo Salvà wins a silver in the individual competition and a gold in a pair with Francesco Lucchin. This time, his teammate had to settle for sixth place in the individual race.

For the female Cadet B category Dharma Valente crossed the finish line in second place just a few hundredths behind the first place. Among males very good for Samuele Zennaro argento, Philip Baracco bronze, and Matthew Theodori sixth in the individual race. The couple of Samuele and Filippo wins another sensational gold in the K2 race.

In the Boys and Girls category Petra Biasioli e Anna Munerato they compete in K2 where they win silver, which Anna manages to repeat in the individual event while Petra closes her effort in fifth position.

Among males Nicola Mancini qualifies for the final where he crosses the finish line in sixth position. His teammates Diego Trambaiolo e Jacopo Gazzieri As a couple, they crossed the finish line in fifth place in the K2 race, while in the individual race they narrowly missed out on the final.

Finally, among the masters we find the very talented Alfonso Ditrento which gives the association another gold medal in the K1 Master B.

Having just returned from the race in Ferrara, the Polesans are already ready to leave for the wonderful Lake Ledro in Trentino where the regional and national races will be held from Friday 5th to Sunday 7th July for all categories. Around twenty athletes will then remain to train at Lake Ledro until Thursday and then leave for San Giorgio di Nogaro where the national competitions will be held on the occasion of the second seasonal event reserved for youth canoeing.
