The drought emergency in Sicily is starting to show serious critical issues also in the Trapani area and in the capital. Siciliacque has not ensured water supplies in Trapani for months. which last year reached almost 100 liters per second. “The city – we read in a statement issued today by the municipal administration – must therefore try to be self-sufficient also with respect to the decline in sources, as well as guarantee supplies to the Municipality of Misiliscemi and to the logistics centers of the Fire Brigade, Air Force, Army , Port Authority and all central public administration bodies and offices. Added to this is the doubling of the summer population thanks to tourist flows. In relation to this, it is also necessary to deal with persistent structural problems in the historic center with homes (many transformed into B&Bs) without sufficient storage containers and therefore dependent on the consistency of supply even on alternate days”.
Hence the need to change the water supply shift. “Force – continues the note – pending the desired positive outcome on the strengthening of the sampling actions from municipal wells, it is necessary to modify distribution shifts and therefore tomorrow – 1 July 2024 – water will not be distributed to allow sufficient accumulation to guarantee supply on 2 July to all users in the historic center and to follow, after verification, on 3 July in new Trapani”.
The distribution shift will undergo the following schedule: Monday accumulation, Tuesday distribution in the historic center. Based on the arrivals from Bresciana, since they are working on the restoration of 5 other wells, on Tuesday, they reported from the offices of Palazzo D’Alì, a press release will be issued on the distribution in the new Trapani area.
