The Department of Civil Protection and Fire Brigade informs that due to some mudslides, generated by heavy rains, the regional road of Cogne, downstream from the town of Epinel, and the municipal roads of Lillaz and Valnontey are closed.

In a few hours, the lower valley, in particular the areas between Champoluc and Verres, was affected by a significant number of interventions.

The adverse weather conditions led to the management of approximately 25 emergency calls in less than two hours, an impressive average of one call every five minutes. The operators of the Fire Brigade operations room worked tirelessly to coordinate the rescue operations, facing considerable pressure.

The interventions were mainly concentrated in the lower valley, where rainfall caused flooding, landslides and other damage. Fire brigade teams intervened to clear blocked roads, secure areas at risk and provide aid to people in difficulty. The commitment and readiness of our firefighters avoided potentially disastrous situations, demonstrating once again the importance of their role in emergency situations.

Due to the high number of calls and the need to effectively manage resources in the area, a third response station was activated at the Fire Brigade operations room in Corso Ivrea. This measure made it possible to optimize the response to emergencies, guaranteeing timely and coordinated support to the operational teams in the field.

A fundamental aspect of this day of interventions was the involvement of the volunteer firefighters. Their contribution proved essential in dealing with numerous emergencies, working side by side with professionals and demonstrating a commendable spirit of service to the community.

Today’s adverse weather conditions have put our region to the test, but thanks to the incessant work of the firefighters, both professionals and volunteers, it was possible to effectively manage the situation. Their dedication and courage were instrumental in ensuring the safety of the population and limiting the damage.
